Die European Umbrella Organisation for Geographical Information (EUROGI) will den Gebrauch von geographischen Informationen zugunsten der Bürger, der Regierungen und des Handels in Europa maximieren und die Sichtweise der Geographischen-Informationen-Gemeinschaft darstellen.

Dies wird erreicht durch Förderung, Anregung und Unterstützung der Entwicklung und des Gebrauchs geographischer Informationen und Technologien.

Die Zielsetzungen der EUROGI sind:

  • Verbreitung der Nutzung geografischer Information in Europa.
  • Bewusst machen des Wertes geografischer Information und entsprechender Technologien.
  • Unterstützen lokaler Anstrengungen zum Aufbau nationaler GI-Gesellschaften in Europa.
  • Förderung des Aufbaus einer europäischen Geodateninfrastruktur.
  • Vertretung Europas innerhalb einer Globalen Geodateninfrastruktur.
